THE FARM KITCHEN WINS FOOD CHAMPION OF THE YEAR 2022
At the recent Lincolnshire Education Awards, we were named ‘Food Champion of the Year 2022’ – an amazing achievement for everyone here at the Farm Kitchen and one that we are incredibly proud of.
The award celebrates those businesses that go above and beyond to support and celebrate local Lincolnshire growers and food producers in a really positive way.
The judges recognised all the hard work that the team does to put Lincolnshire’s food at the heart of everything we do, naming us overall winner on the night.
Victoria Howe, our founder and MD said: “Winning this award has given us all here a huge boost – it’s just fantastic that everyone’s hard work and dedication has been acknowledged in this way.”
“It is so important to us that we not only cook healthy, delicious school meals but that we also encourage children to reconnect with where their food comes from. We want them to see how farmers grow their food, to celebrate the incredible local produce we have here in Lincolnshire and to learn how to cook fresh from scratch, because we believe this will help them make good food choices now and in the future,” she adds.
True advocates of local Lincolnshire produce
Based on our family-run farm in Ewerby Thorpe near Sleaford, the Farm Kitchen team makes sure that every meal we cook is packed full of locally grown vegetables from neighbouring farms and produce from their local fishmonger and bakery, supporting a whole network of local food businesses.
We also work hard to inspire young people to take an interest in local food and farming, by giving fun-filled tours of the farm and kitchen, arranging school growing competitions and Lincolnshire-focused themed school dinner days. Our aim – to create the next generation of foodies who are passionate about local Lincolnshire produce and who love eating fresh, healthy, in season food, that is better for them and better for the planet.
